Alumni Association

Stay Connected and Engaged

The Arcadia University Alumni Association is a resource for alumni in their careers and other pursuits, and serves as a vehicle for you to stay connected with your alma mater. The Association provides structure for you to engage with alumni, current students, faculty, staff, and the community in meaningful ways.

2018-2021 Strategic Goals

The Alumni Association Leadership Council and its committees have identified three overarching goals to guide their efforts from 2018-2021:

  • Career & Mentorship: Develop strategies to enhance the mentorship, lifelong learning, networking, and career-focused opportunities offered to Arcadia University alumni and enrich the Alumni Career Mentor Program.
  • Shared Interest Alumni Connections: Increase opportunities for Arcadia University alumni to connect based around shared student involvements, cultural experiences, and other mutual interests and passions.
  • Volunteer Cultivation: Increase awareness among Arcadia University alumni of the volunteer opportunities that are available within the Alumni Association and at the University.

Structure

The Leadership Council and the Steering Committee act as the governing body of the Alumni Association.

Leadership Council

The Alumni Association’s Leadership Council implements the purposes of the Association. It is composed of one representative from each class, alumni chapter, club, and group, as well as members of the Alumni Association’s Steering Committee and ex officio members. The Leadership Council members meet at least twice annually.

Steering Committee

The Steering Committee of the Leadership Council organizes and conducts the affairs and business of the Council and the Alumni Association. It oversees policy implementation and priorities in accordance with the Association’s Constitution and Bylaws. The Steering Committee’s members include its officers, representatives of the Alumni Association’s Standing and General 500 Internal Server Error

Officers of the Arcadia University Alumni Association’s Steering Committee are elected by members of the Association’s Leadership Council from a slate presented by the Committee on Nominations. Learn more about the nomination process.

The Alumni Associations standing, general, and ad hoc committees are chaired by members of the Steering Committee and are comprised of Arcadia alumni and students. To learn how you can volunteer on an Alumni Association committee, please complete the Alumni Volunteer Interest Form.

  • Affinity Groups Committee—Provides support and develops engagement opportunities for existing and forming alumni clubs, chapters, and groups who seek to connect based around shared student involvements, cultural experiences, and other mutual interests and passions.
  • Bylaws and Policy Committee—Evaluates policies and procedures of the Alumni Association. Recommends new and updated policies and procedures to the Steering Committee for approval and presents these to the Leadership Council. Modifies and keeps the Bylaws up to date of current operating practices, and makes recommendations to the Steering Committee of any proposed changes.
  • Career and Mentorship Committee—Recommends strategies and programs to enhance the mentorship, lifelong learning, networking, and career-focused opportunities offered by the Alumni Association.
  • Committee on Awards and Honors 500 Internal Server Error

  • Committee on the Leadership Council—Sets the objectives of the meetings of the Leadership Council and ensures that the meetings achieve these objectives. Attends to the good health and well-being of the Leadership Council with special focus on strategic planning.
  • Committee on Nominations—Recruits and oversees the vetting process of promising alumni volunteer leadership for the Steering Committee in officer and representative-at-large positions. Presents annually a slate of candidates for affirmation by the Leadership Council.
  • Communications Committee—Seeks to increase awareness of the many benefits and services, networking opportunities, and other events available to Arcadia alumni through the Association, Office of Alumni Engagement, and other departments and organizations associated with Arcadia University to encourage a larger and more diverse participation in the programs offered. Works to initiate new ways to communicate with Arcadia's growing alumni population.
  • Volunteer Cultivation Committee—Works to increase awareness among alumni of the volunteer opportunities for Alumni Association members within the Association and the University. Recommends strategies for the engagement of new volunteers and the recognition of current volunteers to the Office of Alumni Engagement and the Steering Committee.
  • Young Alumni and Students Committee—Promotes and develops young alumni activity through a means of hosting a variety of different programs and social gatherings for graduates of the last decade and current students, as well as promoting other interests to the young alumni and student community.
