What are the requirements to take summer term courses?

At Arcadia University, you don’t have to apply for admission to take summer courses. Simply register for the course that interests you. Some courses may have prerequisites.

How many courses can I take during the summer term?

Is financial aid available during the summer term?

Undergraduate students taking at least six (6) credits combined over the course of all summer sessions are eligible for federal and state financial aid, provided they are matriculating in an Arcadia degree program.

Graduate students taking at least six (6) credits combined over the course of all summer sessions are eligible for Federal Direct Stafford Loans, Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loans and private, alternative student loans, provided they are matriculating in a degree or certificate program.

When is the due date to pay tuition and fees?

Summer billing begins in April, with a May 10 due date. Students who register after May 10th will be billed accordingly with the due date set to the statement billing date. Some summer programs have special payment requirements.

How do I withdraw from a course and what are the penalties?

  • Undergraduate students who officially withdraw from a summer course before the end of the first week of class are entitled to a refund of 50% of the tuition. No refunds will be given after the first week.
  • For graduate students, Summer Session I, a refund of 50 percent is allowed for withdrawal within the first week of class. For Summer II, III and workshops, the refund allowed is 50% before the third class meeting.
How do I access Arcadia Library Resources?

Landman Library provides access to all library databases for online students. Follow the directions below to access the online databases and other library resources:

  1. Login to MyArcadia (//
  2. Click on the Landman Library icon in the toolbar below your name.
  3. From the library home page, scroll down to view an alphabetical list of databases along with brief descriptions of what kind of material is available in each database.
  4. Search through the online databases to find scholarly journal articles that pertain to your online course. If you have difficulty navigating the interface of a particular database, or have any questions at all pertaining to your research, please don’t hesitate to contact a reference librarian at, or by phone at 215-572-2138. You can even chat with a reference librarian through Meebo instant messaging by clicking on “Ask a Librarian” at the top right of the library home page.
  5. If you need the full text of an article that is not available through one of the databases, you may choose to fill out an Inter-Library Loan (ILL) request form. There is a link to the ILL request form on the lower left hand side of the library home page.
Can high school students take courses during the summer term?

High School Students who are academically talented may take one college-level course per semester while they are in high school. If the course is taken for high school credit only, the student will register as an auditor and a letter of completion is sent to the high school. If the course is taken for college credit, the student registers for the credits and a transcript is issued for the course.

Does online education require live chats online or any trips?  

All fully online courses are conducted in the virtual environment, thus not requiring any face to face meeting times. Instructors may require scheduled virtual meeting times, though most online courses are designed to provide specific participation expectations within timelines and student work submissions within specified completion dates. Traditionally, only the partially online or "blended" courses meet periodically in person. Arcadia University follows Eastern Standard Time.

How do I access my Arcadia email?

It is important that you check your Arcadia email account as this will be used for all course correspondence other than information that is posted in your Canvas course. You should check your e-mail before your course begins. To do so, please follow the directions below:

Can I buy books online?

Textbooks for most online courses can be purchased online through Arcadia's Bookstore. However, some courses may utilize online resources and may not require a text. Some courses may require additional materials, but you will be notified of these when you enter your online course. To get to Arcadia's Bookstore online, follow the directions below:
